A fourth-generation family estate led by Matthias Gaul (born 1967). He took over from his father Werner and studied viticulture and oenology in Geisenheim from 1990 to 1995.

Estate size: approx. 35–40 hectares in the northern Pfalz, with sites including Steinrassel and Asselheim on limestone-marl soils, up to 300 metres altitude. Focus on Pinot varieties, especially Spätburgunder.

Awards: German Red Wine Prize 2015 (Pinot Noir Steinrassel) and 2017 (Pinot Noir Asselheim). VINUM magazine named him "King of Pinot" in 2017.
