Natural wine in Berlin — open, honest, by the glass
Characterful natural wines from small growers, orange wine, pet nat and light, chilled reds — much of it by the glass, in the hotel lounge of The Circus Hotel, directly across from reception. You don't need to be an expert. Come by and taste your way through.
What is natural wine, actually?
In short: wine that needs as little intervention as possible. Grapes from organic or biodynamic farming, hand-picked, no pesticides in the vineyard. In the cellar, what nature brings is fermented — with wild yeasts instead of cultured ones, no artificial additives, no fining, and little to no added sulphur.
The result is more alive, sometimes a little wilder than conventional wine: different textures, clear aromas, each vintage a little different. At its best, nothing in the glass but fermented grape juice — and the winemaker's handwriting.

Orange wine, pet nat & light reds — the styles at a glance
What goes in the glass changes — but you'll keep finding these styles with us:
Orange wine
White grapes fermented on the skins like red wine — amber to orange, structure and tannin. Roots trace back to Georgia, where wine has aged in qvevri for millennia.
PetNat
Pétillant naturel — sparkling the ancestral way: bottled early, finishes fermenting in the bottle, naturally bubbly. Easy, alive, perfect for clinking glasses.
Light, chilled reds
Juicy reds with little oak, served slightly chilled — the easy summer wine showing up everywhere right now.
PIWI
Fungus-resistant grape varieties that need far less spray in the vineyard. Sounds technical, tastes great — sustainability in practice.
Drinking natural wine in Berlin-Mitte — by the glass
Our selection is curated, not random. We pour mainly natural wines from small, often biodynamic estates — including Ökonomierat Rebholz from the Pfalz, Heymann-Löwenstein from the Mosel and Sven Enderle from Baden, plus fine bottles from Germany, France, Italy and beyond. From precise Riesling to orange to pet nat.
Best of all: much of it is by the glass, so you can explore rather than commit to a bottle. The list changes regularly — just tell us what you're in the mood for and we'll find your next favourite.

Why we focus on natural wine
Because it brings together what matters to us: honest work in the vineyard, small producers with a signature, and a more mindful approach to what goes in the glass. Natural wine isn't a passing trend but a return to basics — and exactly where good wine culture is heading.
And if you want to drink even more mindfully, you'll find alcohol-free alternatives here that truly deserve the name.
For curious newcomers and devoted natural wine fans
All you need is curiosity. If natural wine is new to you, we'll guide you and find something you'll enjoy. If you're deep in the subject, you'll find characterful pours you won't get just anywhere. Both at the same bar, with zero finger-wagging.

Natural wine tastings & winemaker evenings
We regularly host tastings around natural wine, orange and pet nat — sometimes as a themed flight, sometimes with the winemaker as guest. The ideal chance to try a lot in one evening and learn plenty along the way.
